Gemi Grade Report
MEP Black Star Promos
Published July 6, 2026
This Alakazam promo shows excellent overall presentation, led by strong centering and very clean corners and edges. The surface has a few small marks and a light scratch, but nothing widespread.
Image Quality
1 back-side defect ignored due to scan quality.
Strong diagonal lighting glare streaks across the card, especially through the artwork and text area, which can interfere with inspection.
Grade Shape
Four-axis score profile
Centering is very strong on both sides, with the front measuring about 46/54 left-right and 54/46 top-bottom, and the back staying close to a 47/53 left-right and near-even top-bottom split. The card presents well-balanced margins overall, supporting a top centering result.
The corners appear effectively clean overall, with only a very slight possible fray/whitening noted at the back top-right and a subtler, image-quality-limited trace at the back top-left that was not treated as gradeable wear. Those findings are too minor and isolated to materially affect the corner result.
Observed
Edge condition is strong, with just a small white nick at the far left cut edge on the back bottom side. The wear is localized and light, leaving the edges in excellent overall shape.
Observed
Surface quality is very good, with a small diagonal scratch-like mark in the upper-left back field, a tiny speck in the lower-left back field, and a few tiny dark marks along the front top border near the right side. Front glare makes some inspection less straightforward, but the visible surface marks are minor and limited in scope.
Observed
Surface (9.0) is the lowest of the four axes. It's the main thing keeping this card from a higher grade.
The limiting defect is Surface Scratch (minor, back).
Bringing surface up to the level of the next-weakest axis (Centering, 10.0) would be the single biggest improvement available.
